A Young Man Receives A "Drunk Driving" Arrest And Makes Up His Mind To Hire A "Driving Under The Influence" Attorney
Although Franklin wasn't a lawyer, he told his son that he learned the hard way when as a young man he received a "drunk driving" arrest, represented himself in the local court, paid forty-five hundred dollars in penalties and fines, and served one month in the local city jail. As he mentioned to his son, after he got out of jail, he found out from an attorney friend that had he hired a DUI attorney in the first place, he probably would have had his penalties and fines considerably reduced and he might have never served any time in the local city jail.
When Lawrence heard this he knew he needed more facts about DUIs and so he asked his father for more information about what a "drunk driving" lawyer can do in a "driving under the influence" arrest. His father then articulated the following: "A DWI lawyer will be able to discover 'irregularities' and bring this evidence to the attention of the prosecution and the court. And in some cases, and based on this 'evidence,' your DUI lawyer will be able to get your charges substantially reduced or maybe even dismissed."
When Lawrence heard his father explain this, it was as if his eyes were opened for the first time about the significance of hiring a DUI attorney. Near the end of their discussion, Lawrence mentioned that he was beginning to grasp the relevance of DWI laws and what DUI attorneys can do for an individual who has received a DWI arrest.
After getting "educated" about DWI arrests, the role of DWI attorneys, and the fact that he didn't have to agree to take any field sobriety tests at the time of his arrest, Lawrence made up his mind that he would definitely hire a "driving under the influence" attorney to represent him in court. Something else, however, took place after he had talked to his dad. Lawrence finally started to realize the serious nature of DWI arrests and, as a result, he arrived at a decision that from this moment forward, he would always drink in moderation so that he would never again have to suffer through another DWI arrest.
His dad smiled at Lawrence and mentioned the following: "Lawrence,it took me until I was fifty-five years old to realize what you just told me. I am very proud of you." This did wonders for his self worth and so Lawrence thanked his father and then said, "if I can always drink in moderation, I will never have to hire a drunk driving lawyer again!"
There was, however, one thing that neither Lawrence nor his dad thought about, namely, if Lawrence is displaying any alcohol abuse signs or perhaps if he is displaying any of the common signs of alcoholism. In truth, if Lawrence is exhibiting any alcohol signs that indicate alcohol dependency or alcohol abuse, he may need alcohol rehabilitation.
If truth be told, Lawrence may be required by the court to get treatment for his drinking problems. The good news, however, is that whatever it takes to face his unhealthy and excessive drinking, it seems that Lawrence will be motivated to do the "correct" thing.
