A Young Gentleman Drinks Irresponsibly, Gets Motivated To Get Treatment For Alcohol Dependency And Depression, And Augments His Life

Ralph started drinking excessively when he was in the seventh grade. From a positive way of looking at things, although he drank hazardously and excessively when he was a teenager and a young adult, when he got beyond the age of thirty he almost always drank in moderation.

After he completed his education he eventually landed a job at a local copper smelting plant where he worked his way up from stock person, to office assistant, to purchasing assistant, to purchasing agent. Unlike his other work positions, as the purchasing manager he again and again took existing vendors and potential vendors to lunch and to a variety of sporting events.

Though it was not written in concrete, meeting with potential vendors and existing vendors again and again involved situations in which alcohol was present. In actual fact, over the past seventeen months, Ralph had begun to notably increase his social and his work-related drinking. This has led to a predicament. Namely, the more successful he became as a purchasing agent, the more heavily he began to drink.

In truth, it did not take much time at all before Ralph's abusive drinking started to adversely affect the money in his savings account, his work efficiency, his health, his relationships, and his mental health. After many weeks of heavy drinking, Ralph, if truth be told, became troubled about his drinking problem and wondered whether his alcohol related issues were alcoholism signs. Moreover, his almost constant feelings of depression also made him wonder if he was becoming an alcohol dependent person. In a word, Ralph obviously needed to learn more about the facts about alcohol abuse and the signs of alcoholism.

So Ralph used his problem solving skills, called his health care practitioner, and scheduled an appointment for a physical examination. A week later after seeing his health care professional, Ralph unfortunately found out that he was addicted to alcohol. His family doctor informed Ralph that he needed to get alcohol detox and alcohol rehabilitation for his alcoholism and that he also needed to get a medical evaluation regarding his depression. In short, Ralph needed treatment for his alcohol dependency and depression.

His health care professional suggested to Ralph that he request a 45 day leave of absence from work and get registered into a quality in-patient alcohol rehabilitation clinic where his depression could also be appraised and treated. This is exactly what Ralph did. Fortunately after his treatment for alcoholism and for depression, he felt like a new individual. In point of fact, now that he was sober he almost never got depressed and he now comprehended how to more successfully and productively manage his relationships, his health, his job, and his finances.

Not surprisingly, the biggest test Ralph came across was at work. More specifically, he still took potential vendors and his existing vendors to lunch and to various sporting events, but after his alcohol treatment he managed to refrain from drinking while entertaining his clients.

It can be emphasized that Ralph also discovered that none of his potential vendors or his existing vendors thought any less of him because of his abstinence. Alternatively, he found out that his potential vendors and existing vendors thought even more highly of him for staying true to his convictions.

After Ralph went through alcohol rehab he found out that if he abstained from drinking, all of the other meaningful parts of his life would be upgraded. At times, it may be noted, Ralph missed drinking, but the better finances, relationships, work performance, and the better health he experienced more than made up for his craving for alcohol.
