A Married Couple Gets Hyper About Their Unhealthy Drinking And Contemplates Whether They Manifest Any Alcohol Dependency Signs
Angie and Lenny have been married for eight years. They wanted to have some fun and excitement before they decided to have a family and so they with forethought established an especially vigorous social life.
The major problem, it needs to be underscored, is that virtually everything they do to have fun includes drinking. For example, all of the parties with friends, dinner engagements, happy hours, sporting events, and family get-togethers they patronize somehow include drinking.
If they were moderate or responsible drinkers this wouldn't be a major problem. Given the fact that they drink quite abusively, nonetheless, they are starting to observe some obvious alcohol-related difficulties in their lives.
For example, a short time ago Lenny received a third DUI and has been showing up late for work due to alcohol-related health issues. Furthermore, Lenny's last three performance appraisals at the office have been less than commendable and he has started to fail to recall what he does or says the times that he drinks. Finally, Lenny has been going through sleep-related problems and his family is starting to exhibit some disquiet about his drinking circumstances.
Similarly, Angie has been feeling depressed with life and to manage these feelings, she has been drinking more than any time in the past eight months. In addition, Angie has been getting quite a few throbbing migraine headaches and suffering from terrible hangovers because of her drinking. Finally, Angie has been feeling considerably less energetic when she gets up in the morning, she has been getting to work late at least once per week, and she has been getting some unhelpful criticism from her friends, relatives, family members, and coworkers about her careless drinking.
One Saturday evening while watching TV, Lenny and Angie flipped through the channels and found a fascinating documentary about alcohol facts and alcoholism facts in general and about the signs of alcoholism in particular. This TV special was a real eye opener to Lenny and Angie because numerous alcohol facts that were gone over looked as if they were directly related to quite a few of the drinking difficulties Angie and Lenny had been experiencing.
With thoughts of the TV documentary still fresh in her mind, Angie asked Lenny if some of the alcohol dependency signs they have been exhibiting could be a signal that they are alcoholic or possibly becoming alcoholic. Lenny didn't know the answer to Angie's question and so he suggested that they schedule an appointment with one of the therapists at the local alcohol rehab facility to find out more about the seriousness of their drinking situation.
Ironically, even though their drinking circumstances hadn't yet changed, it was apparent that Angie and Lenny were at least concentrating on their drinking issues, they were excited about finding out more about their drinking situation, and they were concerned about how they could significantly cut down the severity or eliminate the alcohol-related problems that had begun to worsen.
When Angie and Lenny went to bed that night, they decided that the next afternoon, Lenny would call and schedule an appointment for both of them at the alcohol rehab center located just East of the State Capital. After they promised one another that they would do whatever it takes to rise above the drinking problems that had cropped up in their lives, they truly had the best night's sleep they could think of in the last five weeks.
